Docking Lambs
If
you are a townie and thinking of buying a lifestyle block or
just going to help out a mate, this is the skills you need (you
don't want to look like a dick in front of your mate do you).
The art of docking is pretty easy once you have been through
this. First up you need to round up your little guys that are
going to get the ring.
Next
up you need to catch the woolly little beast. Once you have him,
get him up on the rail. You should really have two of you for
this job.

The next step (now this is where it gets interesting) you
need to have your tools on hand. Now you need to grad the rams
testes and you have got to make sure you have both of them
before you put the ring on (this requires a bit of skill but you
can do it). Once you have both testes put the ring over and
release it. That is the testes done.
The
tail is next (pretty easy this one). You just need to put the
ring up over the tail and release it and that is about it. Most
farmers use a gas cutter for the tails these day as it is a lot
faster than this method. If you are inclined to, you can have
lamb tails straight away. We will get some photos of how to use
the gas cutter later.

Once you have finished, let them back out with their mothers.
The little guys will be in pain for a little while but they will
be alright.
