Cooley Distillery
The Independent Spirit of
Ireland
About Cooley
In a world dominated by faceless
multinational corporations, Cooley takes
great pride in its authenticity, passion and
drive to develop the Irish whiskey industry.
Prior to the founding of Cooley in 1987 the
Irish whiskey industry was completely
controlled by one company. They dictated
what Irish whiskey was and how it was sold
around the world. The dominance of this
monopoly meant that consumers were starved
of choice due to a lack of innovation
coupled with many of the historic brands
from Irish whiskey's golden past being
mothballed.Cooley is extremely proud of
being able to resurrect some of these
historic brands, in particular the Kilbeggan
and Tyrconnell Irish whiskey brands and
keeping them Independent to maintain their
authenticity. Cooley will continue to invest
in both these brands as well as the Old
Kilbeggan Distillery in order to bring them
back to their former glory.
Irish whiskey is now
predominately controlled by the two
largest spirits companies in the
world, Diageo and Pernod Ricard.
Their corporate focus is on single
brands within specific categories.
As Ireland's only Irish owned
independent whiskey distillery,
Cooley strives to provide the choice
consumers crave.
This can be seen through its
dedication to developing the Irish
Single Malt category and leading
innovation through reviving old
techniques and experimentation.
Examples of this can be seen in the
revival of the ancient practice of
drying malted barley with the smoke
from peat as seen in our range of
Connemara Peated Single Malts or
creating new categories such as our
range of Greenore Irish Single
Grains or Tyrconnell Aged Wood
Finishes.
Cooly Whisky
Cooley is unique in that they have both a grain and malt
distillery, allowing them to create a wide range of whiskey
styles. Their complementary portfolio of whiskey brands allow
you to enjoy the full spectrum of tastes available from Irish
whiskey. Their whiskeys retain the smooth and sweet taste
profile associated with Irish, yet each one has a signature
flavour allowing you to experience and appreciate the special
way in which it has been distilled and matured.
