Imagine Grand Theft Auto but in the wild
west, that all you'll need to know about the
spiritual successor to the PS2 and Xbox 2004
hit, Red Dead Revolver.
Set in the early 1900s, the game revolves around
the life of former bandit turned good, John
Martson. It is seemingly Martson's goal to find
the bandits he once called allies and deliver
them to the hands of justice. The motive behind
this sudden change of heart has yet to be
explained but is certainly something the users
will pick up in game. Aside from the story line,
Red Dead Redemption has everything you'd expect
of a Grand Theft Auto masterpiece. A huge open
world environment is teeming with all sorts of
entities. Be it small villages thrown together
in the middle in the middle of the desert or
wild life roaming through the forests (which can
you kill and skin for money!)
On top of that, Red Dead has thrown in all
sorts of other situations that the player will
run into while just exploring the expanse
area's of the game. The player could be looking
for wild life to hunt and accidental stumble
into a group of bandits getting ready to murder
an innocent victim, at which point you can
decide whether to let the man die and let nature
run its course, or kill the bandits and spare
his life. This isn't the only time Martson will
be given a choice of being the saint or sinner.
The other most notable scenario is when the
player notices a stage coach being attacked by
bandits, the player can either choose to help
the stage coach by wiping out it's attackers or
help the bandits in taking down their prey and
getting a cut of the loot!
It is all of these little things that help to
make the world of Red Dead Redemption seem so
much more realistic and make the in game world
seem so much more alive. On top of that there is
also your typical Grand Theft Auto features of
hookers, cars (horses) and the not so familiar
scenario's of being forced into a shoot out. All
in all, Red Dead Redemption is looking like it's
going to be one of the biggest games of 2010.
With it's release date quickly approaching, you
can expect fans of the developer (Rockstar) to
be giddying up in anticipation of the release of
Red Dead Redemption.
