British luxury automaker Jaguar launched the 2012 XKR-S Convertible at the LA Auto Show and if what we hear is true this is the fastest and most powerful open-topped GT Jaguar ever built. Only 25 units of this new flagship convertible were produced for the United States which sold out even before the car’s debut.
The car is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 delivering a stout output of 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of seamless torque. The vehicle effortlessly accelerates from 0-60mph in just 4.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 186 mph. The car’s revised front and rear suspension lend agility, precision and control to the vehicle without compromising on comfort.
The model is in light weight aluminium with the same 20-inch wheels as the coupe and bumpers have been subtly redesigned. Functional aero bits like a carbon fibre front splitter, side sills and a carbon fibber rear valance allow the vehicle to perform well even at very high speeds. The interiors are furnished by 16-way adjustable sport seats trimmed in carbon leather.
