The Devil’s Punchbowl Series was a trilogy which started in summer 2012 and will conclude in 2014. It is a blend of some of the finest Arran casks from over the years, personally selected by the Distillery Manager James MacTaggart.
James ‘Lucifer’ MacTaggart, the Master Distiller behind the new whisky, went to hell and back to conjure up this unique spirit. He said: “I’m well practiced in the dark arts of selecting devilishly good casks and was drawn to a number of vintage releases for this limited edition bottling. The spirit has dark, swirling colours with a seductive rich flavour and a smoky edge. They say the devil has all the best tunes, but here he has the best whisky too.”
For the second in the trilogy, the Demonic Distiller delived into the darkest recesses of the warehouses to select the casks for the second release in this un-holy trinity of devilish drams. Each cask was meticulously chosen and through the dark art of blending they have created an Arran bottling of depth and rich character where the aromas and flavours dovetail to perfection. Bottled at natural strength and without chill-filtration, The Devil’s Punch Bowl series is a testimony to the consistent superior quality of The Arran Malt across each year of production. For your elucidation the numbers of every cask, hand-picked for this bottling, have been listed on the inside of the box.
Isle of Arran Distillers has released the third and final line in its Devil’s Punch Bowl single malt Scotch whisky range. Chapter III – The Fiendish Finale follows Chapter II – Angels & Devils and the initial Devil’s Punch Bowl in the range.
The latest iteration is a “multi-age” blend that has been matured in Oloroso Sherry butts and French oak Barrique casks.
Dare to dram with the Devil once again.
